{"id":58472,"date":"2020-01-06T20:17:10","date_gmt":"2020-01-07T01:17:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsnsports.net\/?p=58472"},"modified":"2020-01-06T20:17:10","modified_gmt":"2020-01-07T01:17:10","slug":"womens-hockey-norwich-and-elmira-battle-to-scoreless-tie","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsnsports.net\/blog\/article\/womens-hockey-norwich-and-elmira-battle-to-scoreless-tie\/","title":{"rendered":"Women&#8217;s Hockey: Norwich and Elmira Battle to Scoreless Tie"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Courtesy Norwich Sports Information<\/p>\n<p>NORTHFIELD &#8211;\u2013 The Norwich University women\u2019s ice hockey team skated to a scoreless draw with Elmira College on Monday afternoon in the 2020 East-West Hockey Classic Consolation game at Kreitzberg Arena.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore Alexa Berg (West Fargo, N.D.) stopped all 21 shots she faced to pick up her fourth shutout of the season in goal for Norwich.<\/p>\n<p>Elmira College\u2019s Elizabeth Hanson matched zeroes with Berg, stopping 33 shots to pick up the shutout for the Soaring Eagles.<\/p>\n<p>Norwich freshman forward Ann-Frederique Guay (St. Lambert-de-Lauzon, Quebec) led the Cadets with seven shots on goal. Senior forward Amanda Conway (Methuen, Mass.) was named to the East-West Classic All-Tournament team after registering three points in Sunday\u2019s game vs. Plattsburgh State.<\/p>\n<p>No. 1-ranked Plattsburgh State defeated Adrian College 4-1 in the championship game. Plattsburgh sophomore defenseman Sierra Benjamin had a goal and two assists in the win, earning East-West Hockey Classic MVP honors for her efforts. Elmira\u2019s Hanson, Adrian\u2019s Jacquelin White and Plattsburgh\u2019s Madison Walker, Ashley Davis and Nicole Unsworth rounded out the All-Tournament team selections.<\/p>\n<p>Norwich (10-2-1) and Elmira (7-2-2) will meet again in five days back in Pine Valley, N.Y. as the two future NEHC opponents will face off in a non-conference game starting at 3 p.m. at the Murray Athletic Center.
