CHESTNUT HILL, MA. — Ron Greco tallied a hat trick as fourth-ranked Boston College (12-4-0, 6-2-0 HEA) won its tenth straight to open the calendar year over Vermont (3-12-2, 0-9-1 HEA) Saturday afternoon at Conte Forum. <\/p>\n

HOW IT HAPPENED
\nVlad Dzhioshvili put Vermont ahead 1-0 at 4:59 of the first period on the power play. The Russian fired a rebound from the low right circle past BC goalie Ryan Edquist Andrew Lucas and Jacques Bouquot assisted on the man-up goal.
\nBC tied the game at 10:18 of the first period as Ron Greco slotted a shot over Lekkas’ left shoulder. The Eagles added another pair of goals before the frame ended to take a 3-1 lead into the first intermission.
\nSimon Boyko scored his first career goal at 5:01 of the second to cut the Eagle lead to one. Alex Esposito drove into the zone and fired an initial shot on goal, he then found his own rebound behind the net and found Boyko alone in the slot.
\nGreco scored his second of the game to put the Eagles up 4-2 with 3:01 remaining in the second period. Marc McLaughlin and Mike Hardman assisted on the goal.
\nBoston College added a pair of goals in the opening 3:31 of the third and a power play goal at 7:21 of the frame to make it 7-2.
\nAce Cowans extended his goal streak to three games and point streak to seven games with his sixth of the season at 11:41 of the third period. Cowans fired a seeing-eye-shot from the slot past Edquist. Bouquot picked up his second assist of the game on the tally.
\nBC added a power play goal with 2:40 to play to push the final score to 8-2.

\nLekkas’ scoreless streak ended at 141:02, the fourth longest streak in Green & Gold history.
\nBoyko becomes the fourth member of the Class of 2023 to record his first collegiate goal. He joins Bouquot, William Lemay, and Andrew Lucas.<\/p>\n
