LOWELL, MA — Yusniel Padron-Artilles and two Spinner relievers combined on a two-hit, 15-strikeout blanking to hand the Vermont Lake Monsters its third shutout during a four-game losing streak in a 1-0 Lowell victory in New York-Penn League action Tuesday night at LeLecheur Park.<\/p>\n
Nick Osborne had both of Vermont\u2019s two hits, a bunt single in the second inning and an infield single in the fourth off of Padron-Artilles (3-0), who walked one and struckout 10 over his six scoreless innings. After the Osborne one-out infield single in fourth Padron-Artilles retired final eight batters he faced (five by strikeout).<\/p>\n
Robinson Leyer followed a 1-2-3 seventh inning and Brendan Nail one walk and five strikeouts over the final two innings for his third save as Stedler-Division leading Lowell improved to 13-4 on the season.<\/p>\n
The Lake Monsters have now scored just one run over their last 40 innings dating back to the fifth inning on Friday, when Vermont went 4-for-10 with runners in scoring position over the first four innings but are now 0-for-17 over last 40 frames (0-for-5 on Tuesday, all in first three innings).<\/p>\n
Lake Monsters starter Tyler Baum (0-1) worked around back-to-back two-out walks in a scoreless first, but then gave up his first run as a professional in the second on back-to-back two-out doubles from Xavier LeGrant and Alex Erro. Vermont\u2019s Richard Morban scattered four hits with one walk and five strikeouts over five scoreless innings of relief.<\/p>\n
The Lake Monsters and Spinners will wrap up the series 7:05 pm on Wednesday before Vermont heads to Connecticut for another three-game series before returning home to Centennial Field on Sunday.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
