The best trade over the weekend was Edwin Encarnacion going to the Yankees, not Anthony Davis going to the Lakers! With Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge coming back this week Encarnacion makes an already awesome line-up even awesomer!!! On top of that the Yankees gave-up virtually nothing to get Encarnacion. It’s the biggest robbery since the “The Great Train Robbery” or the “Brinks Heist” or at least Danny Cater for Sparky Lyle or Babe Ruth for you know what.
Vegas already has the Lakers as the favorites to win the NBA championship next year. The Lakers or the field? I’ll take the field.
Again on the US World Cup dominance in soccer. I still say holding back is more disrespectful than trying hard all the way to the end. The Boston Globe’s Dan Shaughnessy went through all the scenarios on Sunday and his point of view is that the US piled on. Yes they did, but it’s the World Cup!The only part of Shaughnessy’s column I agreed with is when he said that many people would argue that nobody would be talking like this if it was the mens team. He thinks that statement is stupid and so do I. The statement really got old a long time ago.
In this case I do agree somewhat because when the US Mens Olympic basketball “Dream Team” was pounding everybody at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics most fans were enjoying it. I’m sure there were some complaints about “piling it on”, but I don’t remember too many. I could’ve been critical myself, but I honestly don’t remember. Anyway I say keep the goals coming! It’s the World Cup, not high school!
