SOUTH BURLINGTON — Tyler Gammon scored 27 points including a game tying three pointer at the end of regulation and the tying and game winning free throws with 8.5 seconds left in the second overtime as the South Burlington High School Wolves edged the Rutland Raiders 76-75 on Tuesday night on Sheila Burleigh Court.

The two clubs staged a high speed back and forth battle throughout. Rutland, keyed by the play of junior Noah Depoy, lead by four (20-16) at the quarter and by three (35-32) at the half. Depoy scored 17 of his team high 25 over the first 16 minutes.

South Burlington responded with a strong third quarter, outscoring the Raiders 16-12 to take a one point lead into the fourth, but Rutland took charge early in that stanza, charging out to an eight point lead, only to see SB counter punch, finally tying the game on Gammon’s off balance fall away three that hit off the iron, bounced straight up into the air, and then dropped through the hoop as the buzzer sounded.

The two teams then played a 6-6 first overtime before Gammon was fouled on a drive to the hoop with 8.5 seconds left in the second extra session and South Burlington trailing by one. The Wolves junior converted both shots, and SB then blocked a final Rutland shot attempt to end it.

After Gammon’s 27 points, South Burlington’s Khalon Taylor added 18, Evan Parker chipped in 12 and Brett Bohlmann contrbuted nine.

After Depoy’s 25, Rutland got 16 from Evan Poquette, 11 from Eli Poquette and nine from Finn McGuiness.

With the win South Burlington improves to 14-5. Rutland is now 9-10.
