NEW LONDON, CT. — Bouncing back from a Friday night loss at Trinity, Middlebury shot 53.1 percent from the floor in the second half, on its way to a 77-61 win at Connecticut College (3-16, 0-6) Saturday afternoon. Jack Farrell surpassed the 1,000-career point mark in the game, scoring 17 to give him 1,001. The 10th-ranked Panthers (18-3, 4-3) return to action next Sunday when they visit Wesleyan for a 1:00 p.m. tipoff.
Middlebury led 10-9 before a 7-0 spurt put Connecticut College on top 16-10 at the 11:25 mark. Down 18-14, the Panthers when on a short run of their own, scoring eight-straight points to lead 22-18 on a jumper from Charley Moore with 7:33 on the clock. The game went back and forth for the remainder of the half, with the Panthers taking a 31-10 advantage into the locker room.
Trailing 42-34 with 17:21 showing on the clock, the hosts scored the next seven points to make it a one-point game (42-41). The Camels held a 47-46 edge before the Panthers went on a key 14-2 run, taking a 60-49 lead with 6:49 remaining. Max Bosco scored seven points during the span. Connecticut College chipped away, but another 10-0 outburst at the 5:19 mark sealed the victory for the Panthers, as the lead grew to as many as 19 in the 77-61 road win.
Tommy Eastman scored 20 points for the second-straight time, Farrell netted 17, while Bosco added 12. Griffin Kornaker finished with nine points, a career-high nine assists, five rebounds and three steals. Matt Folger blocked four shots in the game.
Jeff Allen paced the hosts with 22 points and 11 rebounds, while Dan Draffan added 17.
