MORRISVILLE, NY. — Middlebury improved to 4-0 on the season with a 78-63 road win at Morrisville State (3-2) on Tuesday night. The 12th-ranked Panthers return to action on Thursday with a road contest at New England College.
Middlebury jumped out to a 10-2 lead behind seven points from Jack Farrell. Morrisville later pulled within three (23-20), before late threes from Max Bosco and Ryan Cahill gave the Panthers a 43-29 lead at the half.
The visitors maintained a double-digit lead for a majority of the second half, extending it to a game-high 20 points (74-54) on a layup from Bosco with 4:16 remaining. The Mustangs trimmed the lead in the final minutes, as the Panthers picked up the 78-63 victory.
Bosco led Middlebury with a career high 23 points off the bench, going 7-10 in 24 minutes of play. Farrell scored 15 with four assists, while Alex Sobel netted 14 points on 7-9 shooting, pulled down eight rebounds, while recording four blocked shots. Matt Folger earned a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Eric McCord finished with eight boards, while Griffin Kornaker dished out six assists.
Kevin Dennis scored 26 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for Morrisville State, while Derek Beames scored 14 with eight caroms.
The Panther bench outscored its opponents by a 43-8 margin.
