Warren will host Vermont Seniors’ Winter Games on Feb. 12

The Vermont Senior Games Association will hold the 2012 VSGA Winter Games at the Sugarbush and Blueberry Cross Country ski areas in Warren on Feb. 12.
 
The games are open to anyone age 50 by Dec. 31 (2012) and older.
 
A modified giant slalom will be held in the morning at Sugarbush, with the winners determined by combined two-run times.
 
In the afternoon, a 5-kilometer classical cross country ski race at Blueberry in the afternoon. Snowshoe events of 100 and 200 meters will also be held at Blueberry. Winners will be determined by time of one run on the course.
 
Competition will be held in five-year age groups, starting with 50-54. The gold medal winner in each event will be recognized as the State of Vermont Senior Games champion. Silver and bronze medals will also be awarded.
 
Sugarbush is offering special discounted all-day lift tickets for VSGA competitors. Competitors who already have Sugarbush lift passes need pay only the race entry fee. Seniors who want to compete at both venues will receive a reduced combined race fee.
 
Sugarbush is also offering a discounted two-day lift ticket for anyone wishing to ski Feb. 11 and 12.
